Every Japanese sword served a different purpose. Although this may have changed over time, when collecting the blades, for whichever purpose, it is important to keep in mind the traditional use and the techniques of using the blades. Recognizing the Nodachi for Sale is not hard. To begin with, the nodachi comes with the same resemblance in design and appearance as the tachi. The only distinguishable difference between the tachi and the nodachi is that the latter is much longer.
Traditionally, the nodachi was carried by the Japanese foot soldiers and was specifically designed to be a weapon ideal for the war versus cavalry. It was also ideal for open field engagements. The length of the nodachi is the main reasons why the sword was ideal for the open battlefields. Unlike the tachi, the use of the nodachi indoors was quite impossible due to the length.

This was a distinctive feature of the sword in that, while other common swords such as the katana and Wakizashi were worn at the waist, the nodachi was hung on the back of the soldiers.
The nodachi unique design made it quite difficult to wield. The abnormal size and the bulky weight meant that the wielder needed a great deal of strength to use it. However, in the hands of an expert and a warrior, the blade was a deadly and lethal weapon. The size of the blade made the blade quite fearsome especially in the hands of a warrior.
When purchasing the nodachi, one way to distinguish it from any other sword in the market is by its length. The nodachi measures about 30 to 33 centimeters. The cutting capability of the sword is known to exceed that of the katana owing to its weight and size.
According to Japanese legends, the nodachi was believed to have the capability of cutting through the warrior and his horse with just a single blow.
